What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Buying, leasing and renting out property are the projects that come up most often in feedback on this Canberra City agency, and the recurring thread is how smoothly those transactions are handled. Reviewers often mention that details were explained clearly upfront, leaving no unpleasant surprises later. Khloe Zhang earns frequent praise for steering lease settlements and for going out of her way to help a client relocating from Brisbane secure a furnished apartment, an effort credited with removing much of the stress from a difficult search.

Tara Munro is likewise named for attentive, professional management of a property from start to finish. Several accounts highlight the friendly and efficient manner of staff handling both sales and rental files, with enquiries answered quickly and processes described as responsive. Landlords note their properties were managed to a high standard, while tenants and buyers point to helpful guidance throughout their dealings. Something that features in review after review is the ease of communication with the team at each stage. The consistent picture is of approachable people managing tenancies, settlements and property placements with care.

I want to thank the owner for supporting me throughout my tenancy. I’m truly grateful for them being kind and decent especially during the end of lease process. I want to shout out to Ashlee and thank her for giving me the biggest headache ever for end of lease process. It’s good to see the variety of people. Although she is probably the meanest, the most unkind and unprofessional property manager I have ever seen, I don’t think it’s all her fault that she is not good at her job. It’s probably related to poor selection criteria from the company and the lack of professional development opportunities that the company has yet not been able to provide. As a model tenant, I can’t think of any way that I could have damaged the wall and blinds. But Ashlee can. She is so excited to take on the power trip, ignoring the owner’s plan, pre-existing issues, wear and tear, and simply dumping everything on me. I would like to remind every new tenant to carefully record every detail on everything, because according to Ashlee, if there is no photos in the entry condition report, it means everything is good, thus all the little marks or chips will have to be new and need to be fixed. I’ve got to say if I look back to this whole renting experience with LJ Hooker City, I should have better prepared myself. Starting from the inspection, which was a 15 minutes inspection, the previous property manager was fashionably late for 10 minutes. Three weeks in during the tenancy, one of the two fobs stopped working. I asked the property manager to help me reactivate it. Ashlee, who was the assistant of the property manager at that time, decided to jump in and replied my maintenance request, stating that they won’t fix my fob because I still have a good one. During my end of lease process, I cooperated with weekly inspections for new tenants, vacated the place a week earlier, hired a professional cleaning team, and returned the keys a day ahead of time. As a return, I was told I need to rectify the entry wall, which was not even being taken any photos by the previous property manager in the entry condition report, and bathroom wall, which doesn’t have any recording either. I was also told that I broke the sheer blind that I never touched, and a big light blocked blind that dropped because of my misuse. Also, the balcony floor needs to be re-cleaned. It must be fun to simply write “tenant to rectify” and bombing the tenant with hundreds of photos of wear and tear without even trying to explain what to be fixed. I kept asking Ashlee if she has read the entry condition report or talked to the owner, who are so nice and had informed me don’t worry about scratches on the wall as they will be repainting the place themselves. I had to come home from work and focused on finding the exact pictures to proof that the condition was pre existing. It was so fun. Anyway, I’m very grateful to the owner and I feel very lucky that they are so nice and supportive. And Ashlee, I chose not to reply any more emails from you since I figured out you were not in the right mindset. I hope you have enjoyed your trainings because you could really use them. Good luck with your future career.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was a very disappointing experience. We vacated on 28 May, returned the keys, and received the outgoing inspection report the following day. Although we were more than willing to rectify any issues, the new tenants had already moved in, and our property manager, Tahlia L., never told us what, if anything, still needed to be addressed. I called Tahlia almost every day for two weeks and sent multiple follow-up emails. After initially answering my calls, she stopped responding altogether and ignored all communication. To make matters worse, our bond refund wasn’t even submitted. I eventually had to lodge the application myself, which resulted in ACT Revenue issuing a Section 33 notice before the matter was finally resolved and our bond was returned on 3 July. The biggest disappointment wasn’t the delay—it was the complete lack of communication and follow-up from Tahlia throughout the process. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property management service.

We have had a very disappointing experience with your Gungahlin Branch property manager, Balijeet Kaur. We reported an urgent maintenance issue, but instead of receiving support, she spoke to my roommate in a very rude and unprofessional manner. During the phone call, she was yelling and even told my roommate to “shut up,” which was completely unacceptable. As tenants, we expect to be treated with respect, especially when reporting urgent maintenance concerns. Based on our experience, the level of customer service from LJ Hooker has been extremely poor. We felt disrespected, and the way we were treated left us questioning whether we were being unfairly treated or discriminated against. We hope LJ Hooker takes this complaint seriously, investigates the matter, and ensures that all tenants are treated professionally and with respect.

Jenna was fantastic throughout the entire leasing process. She was professional, responsive, and kept me informed every step of the way. Her communication was clear and timely, and she worked hard to secure quality tenants for my property in a smooth and efficient manner.

We’ve been using the team for both buying and renting out properties, and the whole process has been really smooth and responsive. They explained everything clearly beforehand so there were no surprises. The staff are friendly, helpful, and easy to deal with. We’ll definitely keep using them to manage our properties.

Seems like high school kids trying to run the show without supervision. No clue what the property they are showing or there are any concerns. Issues of misrepresentation and health and safety were consistently ignored throughout the tenancy, often met with condescending responses The manager demonstrated a short-sighted approach, focusing on only defending her team blindly rather than addressing the underlying problems. If jenna is your assigned agent, consider looking elsewhere—first of all good luck tracking her because she is so poor at her job that she will always be on training, if you are lucky in getting hold of her; she will always have an excuse for everything rather than solutions. Some urgent issues were only resolved when we told them that we escalate the matter to ACAT. As highlighted in other reviews, their priority appears to be serving landlords, with no regard for tenant rights. We eventually switched to a different agency and immediately noticed a significant improvement in service quality..

I was very happy with the service that LJ hooker provided and could not be luckier then to have had Hamid Muradi as my agent he was very helpful and made the process very positive and exiting.
