As a first-time investment property owner, this has been a disappointing experience. Communication has been extremely poor — the only time we hear from them is when there’s a payment required. There seems to be little to no due diligence when it comes to quotes from tradespeople. On one occasion, I was quoted for work that wasn’t even necessary. When I questioned it, I was told it had simply been copy-pasted, which is quite concerning. It feels like unless you personally verify everything, you’re expected to just pay without question. Owning an investment property is a long-term commitment and not something that generates instant returns. However, this property management approach gives the impression that clients have unlimited funds and should pay whatever is asked, without transparency or justification. I will be changing property managers, although I doubt that feedback like this will make much difference to their approach.
